Global Social & Creator Lead

San Francisco, CA, USA

About the team

Social is not a channel. It’s culture in motion.

At Turo, our purpose is to reinvent rental and unlock independence for all. And social is one of the most powerful places where that promise becomes tangible. It’s where people discover new ways to move, explore, and travel on their own terms, through the voices of real people, not brand scripts and overproduced content.

We’re looking for a Global Social & Creator Lead--someone who leads with culture, listens deeply, and turns real-world behavior into social storytelling that feels human, timely, and globally relevant–never brand-down, overproduced, or bound to campaigns.

This role sits at the intersection of culture, creators, customers, and media. You’ll shape how Turo shows up by responding to what’s happening now, elevating the voices of guests and hosts, and transforming everyday moments of access and freedom into content that travels far beyond organic social.

Your profile

  • Build social strategy rooted in what’s happening in culture, not just marketing calendars

  • Translate trends, behaviors, and platform-native moments into brand-relevant ideas

  • Ensure social feels participatory, conversational, and alive. Not broadcasted

  • Develop the organic social calendar in partnership with Marketing Managers who own business units and respective objectives

  • Balance cultural moments, business priorities, creator storytelling, and customer voices

  • Decide what should live on social. And what shouldn’t

  • Own the influencer budget and strategy across regions

  • Treat creators as media channels, not just content vendors, extending Turo’s reach

  • Design programs that make it easy (and motivating) for customers and hosts to create content

  • Build repeatable, lightweight UGC systems

  • Turn everyday experiences into authentic social storytelling

  • Be resourceful and inventive in extracting value from real moments
Own social listening and brand chatter across platforms

  • Use tools and insights to: Surface risks and opportunities, inform content direction & support future Community Manager collaboration

  • Be the internal voice of “this is what people are actually saying”

What you will do

  • Have 7+ years in social, creators, or digital culture roles

  • Experience managing influencer budgets and creator partnerships

  • A strong POV on where social is headed (and what’s broken)

  • Have a bias for action and making

  • Are chronically online (in a healthy way)

  • Think like a creator and a strategist

  • Solve problems with creativity

  • Can roll up your sleeves and create content yourself

  • Can manage competing requests, ideas and priorities coming at you without breaking a sweat

  • Know when to move fast vs. when to hold the line – not with a hard ‘no’ but with a ‘not right now’ or an alternative solution

  • Can turn ambiguity into momentum and care more about resonance than polish
