About the team
This is a new role being offered at Turo within our Protection department. We are seeking a high-impact individual to be a technical lead in auto estimating.
The Auto Estimatics Specialist provides technical expertise and guidance to the Protection department and leadership, ensuring file handling meets or exceeds all company guidelines and state requirements. This role will work closely with the Claims Operations team and will provide analysis, training, and program reviews of our estimating providers.
You will develop training for the claims team on damage estimating best practices, effective estimate review, and may assist in audit or review of high-value claim estimates.
What you will do
Assess and analyze completed assignments with our vendors to ensure best-in-class service experience
Provide insights on vendors and assist with developing new partnerships
Review reporting and measurement methods to monitor vendor performance; relay performance issues to your manager
Work with vendors to improve estimating accuracy while utilizing the most cost-effective repair techniques
Identify potential estimating-related fraud with vendors and coordinate with Turo Claims, Trust & Safety, and regulatory authorities
Review auto damage estimates from photo, field, and total loss vendors for accuracy and compliance with estimating guidelines
Review and update estimating guidelines as needed to align with changing market conditions and evolving vehicle technology
Communicate performance expectations with estimating vendors and collaborate with leadership to ensure all team, department, and company goals are met
Develop and implement monthly reporting on program results for senior leadership
Build and maintain relationships with appropriate vendors
Provide coaching and guidance to the department on proper estimating techniques and promoting estimate accuracy
Complete regular file reviews to ensure all requirements have been met
Collaborate on or lead special projects, change initiatives, or other activities
Create or maintain updates and changes to vendor processes; review resources for accurate workflow documentation
Confirm required audit process requirements have been met
Work in multiple systems to support timely file resolution
Work effectively amid frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
Your profile
2+ years of experience in auto collision estimating, including claims terminology and claims handling
Experience with auto estimating software (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex) required
Auto appraiser license or certification required
ICAR Certification preferred
Advanced understanding and knowledge of repair processes and procedures
Four-year college degree preferred
Strong analytical skills to evaluate vendor results, solve problems, and support internal reporting
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an entrepreneurial mindset
Influential, passionate about leading vendor management
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace change
Excellent follow-through, attention to detail, and minimal need for supervision
Team-oriented mindset with high energy, high integrity, strong work ethic, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and a commitment to the mission

For this role, the target base salary range in Phoenix is $56,000–$70,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
