About the team

We’re a supportive, down-to-earth team of designers who collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to craft thoughtful, impactful user experiences. At Turo, design isn’t an afterthought—it’s the driving force behind delivering great customer experiences, with full buy-in across the company. You'll join a seasoned, talented design team that will inspire and challenge you to grow, all within a mature design function that shapes every corner of the business.

What you will do

As a Senior Product Designer on Turo’s Risk and Protection team, you’ll craft seamless, data-informed experiences that keep hosts and guests protected while driving business growth. As the designer in your cross-functional team, you’ll balance polished usability with pragmatic tradeoffs, shaping solutions that make every trip reliable, trustworthy, and hassle-free. Your work will directly impact risk management and profitable growth—optimizing financial outcomes while ensuring a stellar user experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate across teams, drive key decisions, and help strengthen the safety and success of our marketplace.

  • Lead every stage of the design process—from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and delivery of high-fidelity designs across desktop and mobile platforms.

  • Work closely with data analytics partners to shape UX questions and leverage insights to inform design decisions.

  • Take full ownership of your work and bring a proactive, self-driven mindset to solving complex problems.

  • Design impactful solutions that reduce complexity, eliminate design debt, and raise the bar for craft and polish.

  • Present designs, rationale, and user insights effectively to cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.

  • Deep understanding of the business and its varied needs to identify emerging problems and opportunities, influence strategy, and shape effective roadmaps for your team.

  • Be a role model for Turo’s design principles, process, and company values.

Your profile

  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills, with the ability to communicate your thinking and influence across functions.

  • 8+ years of experience designing consumer mobile products, with a portfolio that demonstrates both business impact and user value.

  • Experience designing for various forms of testing—qualitative, quantitative, and multivariate—to validate hypotheses and accelerate learning.

  • Data-informed mindset with a track record of using insights to elevate design quality.

  • Low-ego, collaborative approach to problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork.

  • Strong judgment, adaptability, and a bias for action.

  • Adept at using AI tools to accelerate design and process innovation, with sound judgment on when and how to apply them.

  • Bonus points for experience working with data models to guide and support initiatives.
