Who We're Looking For:
As the Director of Technology at Thrive Causemetics, you will play a critical role in managing a team of 5-6 reports and acting as the first in-house technical leader. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and mobilize the technical organization at Thrive Causemetics. As the first technical leadership position in the company, the Director of Technology will have a chance to shape the technical strategy and infrastructure, supporting a booming business that is dedicated to making a positive impact. The role provides immense growth opportunities and the chance to scale a fast-growing company with a mission-driven purpose.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage and lead a team of Shopify developers, QA, and IT fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Partner with Product Management to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize the technology infrastructure to support the company's growth goals.
- Oversee the functioning and integration of systems like ERP, and Shopify Plus, ensuring seamless operations.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices, advising the business on potential opportunities.
- Take a consultative approach, providing technical expertise to different departments and promoting cross-functional collaboration.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- 10+ Years of experience as a manager of engineering for a Shopify Plus store, 5+ of those in a leadership role managing a team of direct reports
- Collaborative Communication: Exceptional communication skills to partner effectively with various teams across the organization.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to break down complex issues and present solutions in a clear and accessible manner.
- Mentorship: Experience in growing and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Startup Experience: Experience in managing and scaling tech operations in a rapidly growing startup environment.
- Business Translation: Skill to understand business opportunities and align them with appropriate technical solutions.
- Shopify Plus Experience: Must have an extremely thorough understanding of Shopify Plus and its customization capabilities.
- Willingness to Learn: Demonstrated eagerness to adapt and learn new technologies and tools.
- ERP Experience: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems is a plus.
- Broad Technical Expertise: Proficiency in a wide range of technical areas, facilitating well-informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in data architecture.

The base pay range for this role is $150,000-$200,000, with the following factors determining the base pay at offer: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. Additionally, this role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
