How You Will Make an Impact

As the Sr. People Business Partner for our Operations team, you will serve as a trusted People leader in a large, fast-paced distribution center environment. This role is critical to the long-term success and stability of our Suwanee, GA facility. You will be an active and visible member of the Operations Leadership team and will work closely with leaders to engage and develop 500+ team members. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your business acumen and HR experience while maintaining a high sense of curiosity and sense of humor.

You are relationship-focused, business savvy, and can get into the weeds when needed, without losing sight of the bigger picture. You approach decisions with fairness, consistency, and good judgment. You are steady in ambiguity, not easily swayed or reactive, and you balance empathy with accountability and know when to listen, when to advise, and when to challenge.

While our distribution center may be open 24/7 - you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true business partner. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ThredUp operations humming.

In This Role, You’ll Get To

  • Influence Without Authority: Serve as a trusted consultant for leaders and team members, offering guidance on company values, programs (including benefits, pay, and salary), and policies to ensure consistent and timely application.

  • Build Relationships: Foster strong partnerships with business leaders, key stakeholders, and colleagues across the People Team, driving collaboration and alignment on impactful initiatives.

  • Navigate change with confidence: Quickly establish credibility with a seasoned leadership team by demonstrating consistency, follow-through, and a deep understanding of the operational realities of a high-volume distribution center.

  • Earn trust through presence and execution: Invest time on the floor, listen deeply to leaders and team members, and translate insights into practical, visible actions that support the business.

  • Drive Retention: Lead retention strategies alongside Operations leadership and collaborate with other People leaders to share and implement best practices.

  • Coach and Develop: Provide thoughtful coaching to leaders, helping them assess talent objectively and support the growth of their teams within the distribution center.

  • Solve Proactively: Identify People-related challenges, collaborate with the peers, the VP, People, Operations and Operations leaders to develop strategic solutions, and implement effective action plans.

  • Lead with Trust: Establish credibility with stakeholders through responsiveness, sound counsel, and a commitment to accessibility.

  • Communicate People-related procedures, programs, and benefits while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Guide leaders through complex employee relations matters, including conducting internal investigations, audits, and the corrective action process, while ensuring consistent and fair outcomes.

  • Partner with Operations leadership to oversee performance management, providing support in developing high-performing teams.

  • Support leadership development through stretch assignments and continuous talent-building initiatives.

  • Complete People-related administrative tasks as needed, such as managing HR metrics, workers’ compensation claims, and ensuring safety and OSHA compliance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Masterful Relationship Builder: Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across all levels, from leaders to individual contributors and hourly team members.

  • Grounded Adviser: leverage experience to challenge assumptions and remain steady under pressure and ambiguity.

  • HR Expertise: 5+ years of human resources experience at a business partner level or above, ideally in a high-volume or operations-focused environment, with a focus on enhancing employee engagement and retention.

  • Employee Relations Leader: Proven success in managing employee relations in a fast-paced, high-volume operations environment.

  • Confidential and Adaptable: Ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion, work independently under pressure, and thrive amid ambiguity.

  • Developer of Talent: Experience coaching hourly employees and first-level supervisors, fostering leadership development and succession planning.

  • Track Record of Success: A history of professional growth and leadership, reflecting your commitment to excellence.
