How You’ll Make an Impact
The resale industry has become a disruptive force in retail, upending the apparel ecosystem and becoming a powerful solution to the industry’s environmental wastefulness. As our Senior Corporate Communications Manager, you will help develop and drive thredUP’s business narratives, sharing how we’re transforming retail and ushering in a more sustainable future for fashion. You will own high-impact corporate communications programs and campaigns that strengthen thredUP’s leading market position as an authority on resale and inspire confidence in the growth and impact of our business and industry.

This role reports directly to our Senior Director of Corporate Communications, ESG, and Policy, is highly cross-functional, and interfaces with members of the executive team, including the CEO.
Responsibilities
Develop the corporate communications strategy for thredUP in partnership with the broader team.
Build, grow, and nurture relationships with business, retail, and sustainability reporters.
Craft unique stories and content that spotlight our business, product and tech innovation, and culture – and are compelling to press.
Act as a key driver behind thredUP’s annual reports, including its widely-cited Resale Report – driving storylines, survey development, and data analysis to provide context behind the size and trajectory of the resale industry.
Lead key communications aspects of the quarterly financial reporting cycle, including content development and media relations.
Collaborate with thredUP’s New Ventures team to highlight how thredUP is leveraging its operating system to deliver innovative retail experiences.
Manage thredUP’s executive speaking program, securing high-caliber speaking opportunities at key industry events and coaching executives.
Evangelize thredUP’s mission and ESG credentials through impact initiatives, including policy, advocacy, and CSR.
Track project results and influence the team and your business partners to apply key learnings to improve future programs.
Requirements
7+ years of Communications/PR experience
Ability to understand technological and operational innovation and translate that into compelling storylines, messaging and external communications strategies.
A knack for identifying news hooks and press narratives with an approach that’s equal parts qualitative and quantitative.
Experience owning thought leadership programs, including but not limited to speaking at events, appearing on podcasts, ghost writing contributed content, and awards programs that drive results and support business objectives.
Extreme bias towards action – a go-getter who takes initiative, brings creative ideas to the table, suggests process improvements, and exhibits tenacity with media.
An industry news junkie obsessed with keeping a finger on the pulse and staying informed about relevant news and trends.
Public company or marketplace experience is a plus!
At thredUP, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $130,000 and $160,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Many thredUP employees also have the opportunity to own shares of thredUP stock. thredUP employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing thredUP stock if voluntarily participating in thredUP’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Subject to eligibility requirements, you’ll also receive other benefits: Comprehensive medical & dental coverage, vision, 401k, life and disability insurance.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
