How You’ll Make an Impact

The resale industry has become a disruptive force in retail, upending the apparel ecosystem and becoming a powerful solution to the industry’s environmental wastefulness. As our Senior Corporate Communications Manager, you will help develop and drive thredUP’s business narratives, sharing how we’re transforming retail and ushering in a more sustainable future for fashion. You will own high-impact corporate communications programs and campaigns that strengthen thredUP’s leading market position as an authority on resale and inspire confidence in the growth and impact of our business and industry.

Do you have a genuine passion for technology, retail, and sustainability? Do you get jazzed reading thredUP's annual Resale Report and crafting stories about the future of fashion and retail? We want to hear from you. This role reports directly to our Senior Director of Corporate Communications, ESG, and Policy, is highly cross-functional, and interfaces with members of the executive team, including the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the corporate communications strategy for thredUP in partnership with the broader team.

  • Build, grow, and nurture relationships with business, retail, and sustainability reporters.

  • Lead key communications aspects of the quarterly financial reporting cycle, including content development and media relations.

  • Collaborate with thredUP’s New Ventures team to highlight how thredUP is leveraging its operating system to deliver innovative retail experiences.

  • Manage thredUP’s executive speaking program, securing high-caliber speaking opportunities at key industry events and coaching executives.

  • Evangelize thredUP’s mission and ESG credentials through impact initiatives, including policy, advocacy, and CSR.

  • Track project results and influence the team and your business partners to apply key learnings to improve future programs.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Communications/PR experience

  • Ability to understand technological and operational innovation and translate that into compelling storylines, messaging and external communications strategies.

  • A knack for identifying news hooks and press narratives with an approach that’s equal parts qualitative and quantitative.

  • Experience owning thought leadership programs, including but not limited to speaking at events, appearing on podcasts, ghost writing contributed content, and awards programs that drive results and support business objectives.

  • Extreme bias towards action – a go-getter who takes initiative, brings creative ideas to the table, suggests process improvements, and exhibits tenacity with media.

  • An industry news junkie obsessed with keeping a finger on the pulse and staying informed about relevant news and trends.

  • Public company or marketplace experience is a plus!
