How You Will Make An Impact

As the Sr. Business Partner, People for our Operations team, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable handling employee relations without immediate support from other People leaders. You will be an active member of the Ops Leadership team and will work closely with leaders to develop and mentor 500+ team members. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your business acumen and HR experience while maintaining a high sense of curiosity and sense of humor. You believe that good and impactful things can happen with your efforts and have the metrics to prove it.

While our distribution center may be open 24/7 - you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true business partner. Oh, and did we mention that we are currently utilizing a 4 day work week to really emphasize the importance and value of work-life balance? When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the thredUP operations humming.

In This Role You’ll Get To:

  • Advise leaders and team members regarding company values, programs (benefits, pay and salary) administration and interpretation to ensure guidelines and procedures are handled consistently and timely

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders; partner with colleagues inside and outside of the People Team to innovate, enhance, align, and drive the effectiveness of People related initiatives.

  • Drive retention efforts with leadership and partner with other thredUP People leaders to collaborate on best practices

  • Provide coaching to business partners on the objective assessment of talent; specifically, leadership and support functions with the DC.

  • Proactively diagnose People related issues, and partner with the Regional Director of People and other Ops leaders identifying strategic solutions and implement action plans

  • Establish and build trust and credibility with stakeholders through accessibility, responsiveness, and providing sound guidance

  • Facilitate and schedule exit interviews collecting feedback to promote insight and growth

  • Communicates and provides guidance to leadership on People related procedures, programs, and benefits while ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Local laws

  • Guide and provide counsel to leaders on escalated employee relations matters within the Distribution Center. This may include conducting prompt and thorough internal investigations and audits, or guiding leaders to do the same. This may also include approving terminations and supporting leaders with the corrective action process to ensure a consistent team member experience that minimizes unnecessary disruption to the business.

  • Assist in EEOC responses, employee surveys, and lead compliance efforts

  • TeamUP with Operations leadership to guide and oversee performance management processes

  • Provide support to leadership in their development - including the creation of stretch assignments in partnership with Ops to ensure that continuous talent development is a high priority for the business.

  • Complete additional People related administrative tasks as needed such as HR metrics, workers compensation claims, Safety and OSHA compliance, etc

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish trust and partner with a wide range stakeholders through outstanding oral/written communication skills

  • 7-10 years human resources experience at a business partner level or above with focus on improving employee engagement and retention

  • Employee relations expertise, demonstrating a proven track-record of success in a high volume operations environment.

  • Ability to collaborate with others, including other People Team Business partners, Ops and Legal in order to bring ER matters to an effective and timely close.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information and work independently under pressure and in situations of ambiguity

  • Experience with developing and coaching hourly employees and first-level supervisors to help build the future leadership bench

  • A proven track record of professional and leadership growth

At thredUP, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $90,000 and $120,000, and your actual base salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Many thredUP employees also have the opportunity to own shares of thredUP stock, thredUP employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing thredUP stock if voluntarily participating in thredUP’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Subject to eligibility requirements, you’ll also receive other benefits: Comprehensive medical & dental coverage, vision, 401k, life and disability insurance.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
