About The Role
As the VP of Growth & Retention Marketing, you will be responsible for all of our paid media channels, online and offline, and marketing technology. You will use these assets to hit revenue goals, drive organic growth through retention, and ongoing acquisition through strategic promotions and marketing strategies while constantly challenging the status quo to drive revenue growth. You understand the competitive landscape and proactively bring a fresh approach. This role reports to thredUP’s Chief Revenue Officer.
How You Will Make An Impact:
Strategic revenue growth. Drive comprehensive revenue growth strategies as the leader of the growth marketing, acquisition, promotion and retention teams.
Data-driven decision-making. Leverage data analytics to track KPIs and metrics, continuously monitoring revenue growth and identification of improvement areas on a daily basis.
Organizational alignment. Ensure alignment across revenue-driving functions and dependencies, taking charge of harmonizing growth marketing, retention marketing, data analytics, engineering and finance teams to foster effective collaboration. Set measurable goals towards achieving revenue growth with a high level of collaboration with the VP of Revenue Strategy. Liaison to brand and product teams as key stakeholders.
Performance Marketing. Have a deep understanding of our performance marketing and ads engineering capabilities, marketplace tools, metrics and unit economics. Refine and expand our channel strategy across all mediums: SEO, social, influencers, search, TV, affiliates, email, direct mail. Maximize spend to be the most efficient with the goal of leveraging expense as revenue increases. Be a growth hacker.
Customer Acquisition & Retention. Lead strategies for customer acquisition, retention, monetization and reactivation that balances investing in mature, high-performing channels with testing emerging channels.
Team leadership. Challenge and motivate high-performing teams. Define clear performance expectations, offer coaching and development opportunities, and inspire team members, fostering a shared commitment.
Key Measurement of Success:
US Marketplace Net Revenue lands within Guidance forecast every quarter.
Acquisition and Retention of Buyers meet or exceed company targets.
Marketing spend efficiencies result in ability to drive incremental revenue.
Innovative approach to driving revenue growth.
What We’re Looking For:
Track record managing, building and scaling A+ quantitative marketing teams.
10+ years of experience in internet, digital, performance and acquisition marketing roles.
A data-driven strategist who has lived in a rigorous LTV/CAC world.
B2C experience is a must. Experience in a marketplace business is preferred.
Outstanding communication skills, and the presence and experience to drive cross-functional teams toward measurable outcomes.

At thredUP, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $285,000 and $340,000 and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Many thredUP employees also have the opportunity to own shares of thredUP stock. thredUP employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing thredUP stock if voluntarily participating in thredUP’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
