SUMMARY
As a Backend Engineer, you will build in our Node.js backend stack while drawing on your experience in any high-level backend language (Java, Go, Python, etc.). If you’re not a Node specialist yet, that’s fine, you’ll ramp quickly with support from our AI-powered toolchain (Cursor, GPT-based reviewers, automated test agents)
Your work will focus on creating scalable services and APIs that power SQUIRE’s platform and on leveraging AI to move faster and ship smarter.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Code in Node.js every day to design, implement, and maintain scalable services and APIs.
  • Bring transferable expertise from Java, Go, Python, or similar to inform architecture, testing, and performance decisions.
  • Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end features that delight our customers.
  • Use AI pair-programming and review tools (e.g., Cursor, GPT-based code reviewers) to boost quality and velocity.
  • Help shape our AI-first engineering culture, experiment with new AI workflows, share learnings, and mentor teammates.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and scale our Node.js/Nest.js services for reliability and performance.
  • Responsibilities may evolve as we continue to adopt AI and grow our platform

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATION

  • 3+ years building backend services or APIs in a high-level language (Node.js, Java, Go, Python, etc.)
  • Eagerness to work primarily in Node.js (experience is great but not required).Solid understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, and API design.
  • Proficiency with Git and Agile development practices.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a hybrid, distributed team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Bonus: payments or FinTech experience
  • English proficiency is a must. You must be able to clearly communicate your ideas and work with English-speaking team members
  • Must be based in Buenos Aires with availability to work on-site in our office in CABA two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
