About the Team
Are you a problem solver who likes focusing on commercial contracts and improving processes in a fast-growing company? Outreach’s Legal team is hiring! We’re a growing team that supports the entire organization, with a particular focus on enabling our revenue teams to close deals quickly and responsibly.
The Role
As Commercial Counsel you’ll play a key role in our revenue-side contract process, primarily negotiating customer-facing commercial agreements, while also providing additional legal support across the business. You’ll ensure our agreements protect customer trust while enabling Outreach to deliver and improve its AI-powered platform.
Location: Remote (PT or MT preferred)
Your Daily Adventures Will Include
- Negotiate, draft, and review commercial agreements, primarily customer AI SaaS master service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, data processing addendums, security and AI terms
- Gather internal feedback from other reviewers in the customer contracting process – work with sales and business teams to identify requests and determine with internal departments the best approach to meeting those needs
- Protect customer data and personal data by ensuring contract terms align with Outreach’s obligations under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, UK privacy law, and the EU AI Act
- Enforce organizational contract policies and procedures
- Assist in the evaluation and updating of company document templates
- Partner with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Deal Desk to gather internal feedback, resolve contracting bottlenecks, and accelerate time-to-close
- Identify and implement improvements to contract workflows, templates, and playbooks to increase efficiency as deal volume scales
- Support other legal team projects as needed, including negotiating vendor and partner agreements
Our Vision of You
- 3-5 years of legal experience, with at least 1-2 years focused on commercial SaaS agreements (in-house or at a firm representing technology clients)
- Direct experience negotiating customer-facing agreements (MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, Order Forms)
- Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or equivalent)
- Ability to spot issues and recommend practical, business-focused solutions that balance speed with risk management
- Understand how to balance competing priorities
- Comfortable in a high growth dynamic, evolving environment
- High level of attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and dedication to accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating perseverance, humor, and dedication while displaying a strong backbone when needed
- J.D. or equivalent degree from accredited law school
- Active member of the bar in at least one state in the United States
- Proficiency with customer and contract management tools (Ironclad, Salesforce, Docusign) and the MS Office suite, including advanced Word skills
- Interest or experience in privacy, artificial intelligence (AI), the EU AI Act, and other emerging SaaS product topics is a plus
