As a Test Engineer on the Operations Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, automating, and optimizing the manufacturing testing and validation of existing Markforged hardware products as well as new technology. In this role, you will have full discretion to design, build, and implement systems to track and gate device deployment by leveraging our industry-leading device telemetry, as well as manufacturing test data. This role is critical to ensure Markforged devices maintain high-quality standards and exceed customer expectations. You will report to the Operations Engineering Lead, building a strong relationship with contract manufacturers (CM) and critical sub-tier suppliers while working closely with the operation teams and manufacturing, hardware, electrical, and software engineers. The ideal candidate exhibits exceptional communication, project management skills, and solid engineering fundamentals. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and be willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.
What will you own?
- Own the development, generation, and validation of calibration and system-level testing of hardware and software
- Utilize real-world data to design and build systems and software for validation of electro-mechanical assemblies, critical-to-quality specifications, functional requirements, and full system performance
- Oversee automated test creation and validation for new product introduction launches to ensure new devices perform to strict standards required by our industry-leading technology
- Work cross-functionally with Markforged Electrical, Hardware, and Software teams to ensure best practice for design for test (DFT) on existing product lines and new product introductions (NPI)
- Support existing product lines at contract manufacturers and lead/coordinate continuous improvement projects to reduce downtime, increase productivity, and drive improvement culture with CMs
- Support process qualifications and capability studies (custom test fixture validation, Gage R&R, DOEs, FMEAs, etc)
- Develop scripts to process test data and display metrics dashboards to analyze continuous improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with supply chain management to flow-down testing requirements to Contract Manufacturers and sub-tier suppliers
- Report manufacturing key performance indicators (KPIs) to ops/eng leaders and to senior management
Important Note:
Although we list out what we generally look for, we are very likely missing other attributes and skills that you have that could make you a great fit, but are not currently listed. Research has shown this especially applies to women and other marginalized groups, who tend to apply if they check 100% of every box, versus men who apply if they hit roughly 60%. The point we’re getting at, it doesn’t hurt to take a chance and apply!
What you have:
