This is a remote position open to candidates located on the West Coast, with a preference for those based in the Seattle, WA area. We also offer an optional office space in Seattle for anyone who prefers an on-site or hybrid work environment.
Docker is seeking a Staff Product Manager to drive platform strategy across our foundational systems including Billing, Identity & Accounts, Data, and Infrastructure. As Docker continues to scale with millions of users and thousands of enterprise customers, we need a strategic product leader who can ensure our platform capabilities enable product teams across the organization to ship enterprise-grade products quickly and efficiently.
This role combines deep technical product expertise with strategic vision to define and execute Docker's platform roadmap. You'll be responsible for platform strategy that enables rapid product development, scalable operations, and seamless customer experiences across billing systems, identity management, data infrastructure, and core platform services. You'll work closely with product teams, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Executive leadership to establish platform capabilities that accelerate time-to-market while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability and security.
Success in this role requires becoming a subject matter expert across multiple platform domains, understanding how platform decisions impact product velocity and customer experience, and the ability to consult and advise product teams throughout the organization. You'll drive product decisions that directly enable Docker's product portfolio to scale efficiently while establishing best practices for platform-dependent product development.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Roadmap Leadership
Collaborate with executive leadership to align platform strategy with business growth objectives and product portfolio expansion
Drive integrated platform roadmap that enables product teams to launch new enterprise-grade capabilities rapidly and reliably
Partner with product teams across Docker to understand their business plans and launch requirements, translating needs into platform capabilities
Define and execute the long-term product strategy for Docker's platform systems including Billing, Identity & Accounts, Data, and Infrastructure
Stakeholder Management & Influence
Build deep relationships with product leaders across Docker to understand product strategies and identify platform enablement opportunities
Influence product roadmaps by articulating platform constraints, opportunities, and trade-offs that impact product development
Engage with business stakeholders across Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to understand platform requirements and measure business impact
Drive cross-functional alignment on platform priorities by balancing competing product team needs with platform sustainability
Cross-Platform Product Management
Own platform strategy across multiple domains including billing systems, identity and access management, entitlements, data platforms, and core infrastructure
Establish platform capabilities and APIs that enable product teams to build on shared services efficiently
Drive platform initiatives that reduce friction for product teams while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence
Define platform abstractions and service models that balance flexibility for product innovation with consistency across the Docker ecosystem
Strategic Platform Consulting & Enablement
Serve as subject matter expert and strategic advisor to product teams across Docker on platform capabilities and best practices
Conduct deep discovery with product teams to understand roadmaps, launch plans, and platform dependencies for new features and products
Translate product team requirements into platform capabilities, balancing individual product needs with scalable platform architecture
Provide thought leadership on platform-dependent product development including billing integration, identity models, data requirements, and infrastructure needs
Required Qualifications
Product Management Excellence
8+ years of product management experience with 3+ years at Staff level or above
Proven track record building and scaling platform products that enable other product teams at high-growth technology companies
Experience working across multi-domain platform strategy across areas like billing, identity, infrastructure, or data systems
Ability to become a subject matter expert quickly across technical domains and serve as trusted advisor to product teams
Excellent stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence without authority across product organizations
Strategic thinking with ability to balance long-term platform vision with near-term product team needs and business objectives
Platform & Technical Expertise
Deep understanding of platform product management including shared services, internal platforms, and enabling systems for product development
Experience with enterprise platform systems such as billing platforms, identity and access management (IAM), entitlements, or multi-tenancy architectures
Strong technical acumen with ability to engage in architectural discussions and evaluate technical trade-offs for platform decisions
Knowledge of SaaS platform patterns including API design, service-oriented architecture, event-driven systems, and platform observability
Understanding of enterprise requirements including compliance, security, audit logging, data governance, and regulatory frameworks
Experience with platform adoption and enablement including developer experience, documentation, and internal customer success
Strategic & Business Acumen
Experience translating business strategy and product roadmaps into platform capabilities and technical requirements
Understanding of how platform decisions impact product velocity, time-to-market, and competitive differentiation
Knowledge of enterprise customer needs including complex organizational hierarchies, billing scenarios, and identity federation
Ability to measure platform success through adoption metrics, product team velocity improvements, and business impact

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a platform PM at high-growth B2B SaaS or developer tools companies
Background in technical roles such as software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical product management
Experience with containerization technologies and developer-focused platforms
Knowledge of modern billing systems (Stripe, Zuora), identity platforms (Okta, Auth0), and data infrastructure (Snowflake, BigQuery)
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
Experience managing platform migrations, modernization initiatives, or technical debt reduction programs

First 30 Days
Build relationships with product leaders across Docker's product portfolio to understand their roadmaps, launch plans, and platform dependencies
Review existing platform roadmaps, technical documentation, and strategic plans to identify quick wins and long-term opportunities
Establish connections with engineering leadership and platform teams to understand current technical architecture, constraints, and ongoing initiatives
Conduct discovery sessions with key stakeholders across Engineering, Finance, Sales, and Operations to understand platform requirements and pain points
First 90 Days
Establish platform governance and consultation processes to help product teams understand platform capabilities, constraints, and integration patterns
Deliver initial platform improvements or capabilities that unblock product teams and demonstrate quick value from platform investment
Build consensus across product leadership on platform priorities by articulating trade-offs, dependencies, and business impact of platform initiatives
Begin serving as strategic advisor to product teams on upcoming launches, providing guidance on billing integration, identity models, and infrastructure requirements
One-Year Outlook
Establish yourself as the trusted platform advisor across Docker's product organization with high internal stakeholder satisfaction scores
