BMR (Bare Metal Recovery) is a mission-critical recovery system that enables customers to restore entire Windows and Linux machines — OS, disk layout, drivers, applications, and configuration — onto new physical or virtual hardware after catastrophic failures. This role sits at the intersection of OS internals, storage, distributed backup systems, and recovery automation, and is ideal for engineers who enjoy deep system-level problem solving. In addition, this role gives opportunity for learning and contributing to cloud object store protection features of Veritas NetBackup product.

What You'll Work On

  • Recovery scenarios involving:

o Hardware changes

o Cloud-to-on-prem and on-prem-to-cloud restores

o Cross-platform compatibility challenges

  • Building resilient, backward-compatible recovery pipelines for enterprise customers
  • Debugging complex, real-world customer recovery failures at scale
  • Cloud/S3-compatible storage/REST APIs as and when required

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • Design, develop, and maintain backup recovery features and platform support across Windows and Linux
  • Contribute to system design discussions and technical reviews
  • Debug and fix hard system-level issues involving OS, storage, and networking
  • Own and deliver production-quality code for critical recovery paths
  • Work closely with Product Management, QA, Support, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Drive accountability for test driven development, delivery of high quality features and resilient enterprise class solutions
  • Lead a culture of team ownership and direct individual and team accountability to continuously improve how they work and achieve results.
  • Participating in Agile development processes.

We'd Love to Talk to You If You Have Many of the Following:

  • BS/MS/Phd in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 3+ years of developing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems
  • Strong coding skills in C / C++
  • Good understanding of OS fundamentals, Storage and filesystems, Client–server architectures
  • Experience with Windows/Linux services and drivers
  • Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments
  • Openness to work on diverse areas of the backup products- cloud/object store/S3 if needed
  • Experience in Data Protection, Filesystems or Storage is a nice-to-have
  • A fast learner and self-starter with intellectual horsepower
  • Problem-solver who can dive deep to solve complex problems/issues
