As an integral member of Business Underwriting & Loss Mitigation, the Sr. Commercial Credit Analyst will perform key underwriting and portfolio management activities for the Commercial Card portfolio. The candidate will review financial statements and economic data, create risk ratings and write credit memos, and make recommendations to senior stakeholders exercising sound credit judgment. The role offers the candidate the opportunity to build underwriting skills while influencing broader risk management policies, processes and strategies

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in origination and ongoing portfolio management of commercial card credit facilities as a key member of deal teams.

  • Perform due diligence on corporate borrowers’ creditworthiness and ability to meet financial obligations. This includes analysis of bank statements, credit card processing statements, tax returns and/or financial statements (balance sheet, income statements, cash flow statements).

  • Create risk ratings with due consideration of key risks and inputs. Understand methodologies and levers behind risk ratings across a diverse range of corporate structures and industry frameworks

  • With training, apply pricing considerations, deal economics, and resilience factors to overall credit decisions.

  • Understand and support compliance with AML, KYC and all other applicable regulatory requirements, for each deal.

  • Where applicable, make recommendations to optimize underwriting/portfolio management processes (examples: document collection, analysis automation)

  • Support Underwriting leaders with reporting, quality control or other ad-hoc projects as needed.

  • Escalate potential credit concerns to management immediately.

  • Demonstrate a genuine desire to collaborate with all team members.

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn. Including asking a question to clarify and learn concepts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with Major in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics

  • At least 9 credit hours in Accounting

  • Basic understanding of financial statements

  • Customer Facing Banking Experience

  • Strong analytical, verbal and interpersonal skills
