US Card Finance is seeking a Manager to help lead Strategic analysis as part of the Central Operational Expense (OpEx) Finance team. This leader will help influence OpEx spend across the Total Card business by analyzing current financial results to identify and address evolving business needs, evaluating trends, communicating expected outcomes, and leading the development of compelling new analytics. The manager in this role will have the opportunity to partner with business leadership on driving strategic business direction that leads to sustainable performance and will be asked to challenge our current well-managed processes to be more proactive, effective and efficient.

The ideal candidate would be interested in learning the many nuances of the Card business, developing strong relationships with the Card Finance team, and identifying and performing proactive ad hoc analysis in support of business objectives. This is a highly visible role within Card Services, and a great opportunity to learn more about the Card business, and horizontal OpEx.

As a Finance Manager, you will:

  • Lead a well-managed monthly process including forecasting and reporting

  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights

  • Proactively identify and lead new analysis that drives additional insights into business performance and opportunities

  • Develop methodologies and processes that provide transparency of costs and cost drivers to recipient businesses, and analyze current financial results to identify and address evolving risks and opportunities.

  • Provide management and business clients with project statuses.

The role requires strong communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively:

  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights

  • Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of ongoing efforts to grow the organization

  • Develop presentations to communicate recent performance and trends to senior leadership audiences


  • Partner with finance leaders and their teams, as well as other internal stakeholders

  • Business presentations: Lead development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams

  • React to Ad-hoc requests and lead or partner on special projects

  • Financial analysis and reporting: accurately analyze/explain key cost drivers and monthly variances, suggest actions to the business and manage the regular reporting process

  • Independently manage, prioritize, and delegate tasks

  • Act as a work lead for one to two analysts, and help develop associates

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

  • At least 3 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • 5+ years’ experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

  • 2+ years of people management experience managing both direct and indirect reports

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
