Apollo is entering one of the most exciting phases in our company's history. As we expand beyond GraphQL into the agentic AI middleware market, we need an exceptional marketing leader to help us tell our story, drive adoption, and establish Apollo as the go-to platform for connecting AI agents to enterprise systems. This is a rare opportunity to shape the marketing strategy and build a world-class team at a company with strong product-market fit, making a strategic pivot into a massive emerging market.

You'll work directly with our CEO and executive team, partnering closely with Product, Sales, and Engineering to define positioning, drive demand, and build brand awareness among technical audiences. You'll have the autonomy to build marketing from the ground up—establishing programs, growing your team, and creating the foundation for Apollo's next chapter of growth.

What you'll do

  • Own Product Marketing: Craft compelling positioning and messaging for Apollo's agent integration platform. Create product narratives, competitive analyses, sales enablement materials, and customer stories that resonate with both developers and enterprise buyers.

  • Drive Demand Generation: Build and execute data-driven campaigns that generate qualified pipeline. Own the full funnel from awareness through conversion, working closely with Sales to ensure marketing-influenced revenue growth.

  • Lead Web Strategy: Transform apollo.io into a best-in-class developer marketing site. Drive organic traffic growth, improve conversion rates, and ensure our digital presence effectively communicates our value proposition.

  • Build Brand & Visibility: Establish strategic relationships with media and analysts. Position Apollo as a thought leader in GraphQL and agentic AI through PR, content, and executive communications.

  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate deeply with Product on launches, with Sales on pipeline generation, and with Developer Relations on community engagement. Ensure marketing initiatives align with company-wide objectives.

  • Grow Your Team: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing marketing organization. For the right candidate, this role may also include leading Developer Relations and Events.

Who you are

You're a technical marketing leader who thrives at the intersection of product, technology, and storytelling. You've successfully marketed to developers and technical audiences, understanding both what makes them tick and how to cut through the noise. You're equally comfortable diving into technical details with engineers and presenting strategic initiatives to executives. You're excited by the opportunity to help define a new category and build something from the ground up. Most importantly, you're someone who leads with data, moves quickly, and brings a healthy mix of creativity and analytical rigor to everything you do.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of marketing experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles at B2B SaaS or developer tools companies

  • Proven track record marketing to developers and technical audiences, with deep understanding of developer marketing best practices

  • Demonstrated success building and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that drove measurable business outcomes (pipeline, revenue, brand awareness)

  • Experience leading product marketing through significant launches, repositioning efforts, or new market entries

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in marketing attribution, funnel optimization, and data-driven decision making

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences

Nice to have

  • Technical background (engineering, developer relations, or product management experience)

  • Experience marketing API platforms, middleware, or infrastructure tools

  • Familiarity with GraphQL, API technologies, or agentic AI concepts

  • Background leading developer relations or community-driven growth initiatives

  • Experience at high-growth startups that successfully scaled from Series B through growth stage

About Apollo

If you stream a show, book a trip, or read the news online, there’s a good chance Apollo’s technology is working quietly behind the scenes. Today, we power some of the world’s largest GraphQL platforms for teams building complex, high-performance applications at scale.

But that’s only the starting point.

Apollo is evolving into a core piece of modern application infrastructure — helping teams orchestrate data, APIs, and increasingly AI-driven systems through a single, cohesive platform. As software shifts toward distributed, agentic architectures, we’re focused on making that complexity manageable, observable, and reliable for the teams building it.

Just as importantly, we’re building a company where ambitious people can do the most meaningful work of their careers. That means tackling hard problems, moving with urgency, learning fast, and growing alongside teammates who care deeply about craft, impact, and building something that lasts.
